To induct students into this integrated programme,the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras conducts an entrance test HSEE “Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination”.   • There are two parts to the HSEE exam where part 1 comprises multiple-choice questions.Total time allocated to attempt Part -1 is 150 minutes.HSEE question paper comprises the following sections namely, English and comprehension skill, Analytical and Quantitative Ability, General Studies (Indian Economy), General Studies (Indian Society and Culture), General Studies (World Affairs), and General Studies (Environmental and Ecology ).
  • In the second part of the HSEE Exam, students are expected to write an essay from the given list of topics. As the total marks allocated to the essay writing task is 30, therefore it is recommended that candidates preparing for this part should read a lot to gain an understanding of important news stories. Students can opt for either online mode or offline mode to write the essay. Students will get 30 minutes for completing HSEE Part 2.
