AILET 2020 Analysis

This year All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2020 was conducted by National testing agency on September 26, Saturday. This year also the pattern was almost the same as it was in the last year. The paper was moderate to tough and lengthy as well. The paper had a total of 150 questions (one mark per question & 0.25 negative for a wrong answer) to be attempted in 90 minutes. The paper was conducted online across 100 plus centers but students faced many technical glitches such as auto-submission before time, screen going blank often, computer not working and other similar issues. The overall feel of the paper was moderate to tough. The legal section of the paper was lengthy.

Section-wise Analysis of AILET 2020
Section I: - English
English section was moderate and lengthy. So it was essential to manage time and accuracy as far as this part of the paper was concerned.

The section was dominated by sentence correction, reading comprehension and vocabulary based questions. Sentence completion questions, were easy to moderate and should have been done in less time. The sentence correction questions were based on the basics of grammar and hence were easy to deal with. The reading comprehension was a little tricky (content-wise) and questions based on then were also had close choices. This time vocabulary based questions and idiom/phrases questions were moderate to difficult. There were no questions based on figure of speech.
The attempt of 26-28 questions would have been considered good.
Section II: - General Knowledge
This section was dominated by the questions based on current affairs (20 out of 35), and this section was manageable for those who were in touch with any good newspaper. The questions were based on Awards & Sports, science & social science, Business and Economy. Overall the section was manageable, and the attempt of 25+ would be considered reasonable.
Section III: - Legal Aptitude
The Legal Aptitude section was considered difficult this year. Out of 35 questions 17 were based on Legal Knowledge and 18 questions were based on Legal Reasoning (Principle based questions). The Legal Knowledge based questions were mostly based on current legal awareness such as CAA, recent ordinances and anti-defection law. The legal reasoning questions were quite lengthy and difficult and were from Law of Contract and Law of Torts mainly.

Overall an attempt of 20+ would be considered reasonable for this section.
Section IV: - Logical Reasoning
This year also the section had questions based on all common areas such as arrangements, coding, directions etc. The blood relation questions were based on family tree which was easy. Seeing the time constraint, this section being easy, could have helped in maximization of attempt.

Section V: - Mathematics
Apart from basic arithmetic questions on Average, Profit and Loss, SI and CI, Percentage, there were also questions on Permutation Probability, Equations etc. Selection of questions was required to be swift.
