AILET Mock Test vs Previous Year Papers: Difficulty Level
NLU Delhi does not grade the paper as easy or tough. Coaching and student reviews of AILET 2024, 2025, and 2026 mostly term it as easy to moderate, sometimes moderate. While choosing an AILET mock test, aspirants must cross-check that the structure of the test is same as the actual exam pattern. The difficulty level should also be similar to or tougher compared to that of the
AILET previous year question papers.
A mock is at the right level if it feels like those papers, not if it feels harder.
- English in recent papers was passage-based. A mock of only grammar and vocabulary is easier than the exam.
- GK mixed current affairs and static facts. In some years, students missed the static questions. A mock of only last month’s news is easier than the exam.
- Logical Reasoning carried 70 marks and took the most time. It mixed critical reasoning with analytical sets. A few questions used a legal principle. That is not a separate Legal Aptitude section. A mock that is all puzzles, or all legal principles does not match the paper.
Use a previous-year paper as well as AILET mock test to check your preparation level and readiness for the exam day. Complete one official paper in 120 minutes. Types of AILET Mock Tests
Candidates can use AILET mock tests in two ways:
- A full-length mock covers all three sections in 120 minutes, without a pause. Take it at the same hour as the exam if you can: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This is the test of order and pace.
- A sectional mock is one section only. Use it when one section is clearly behind. For most students, that section is Logical Reasoning, because it has the highest weightage in the paper. A sectional test does not replace a full mock. A full mock does not, by itself, fix a weak section.
Creating a mock test schedule
AILET has a fixed limit of 120 minutes. Extra time is given only to eligible PwD candidates, as notified by NLU Delhi. Practise AILET mock tests within that limit.
One full AILET mock a week is enough if you review it for longer than you sat for it. Add a sectional test only for the section that you are weak in, which is usually Logical Reasoning. In the last month, fix repeated errors before you add another mock.
Starting several months before December 13, 2026, helps. It is not a rule. A student who begins in October can still use a weekly mock. An unread pile of mocks will not raise the score.
Attend the full mock from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in a proctored environment to get a simulated experience. That is the exam slot.
What to check after the mock
Do not stop at the total marks. Check the following factors as well.
- Logical Reasoning score. It is 70 out of 150 marks.
- Accuracy: correct answers divided by total attempts. If this is low, stop guessing in GK.
- Wrong guesses. Each costs 0.25. A skip costs 0.
- Time lost on one set.
- The same mistake again: a misread question, or a fact you did not know.
