Symbiosis law schools Symbiosis Law Schools in India Symbiosis International University (SIU) Symbiosis Law Schools mainly use a standardized entrance examination called the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), which is widely used by many other law schools in India as well as in other countries. As thousands of applicants are competing to get the few available seats every year, competition is stiff and thus extensive preparation is a critical factor in ensuring one gets into the campuses of choice.

The SLAT 2024 was administered in two sittings: Test 01 on May 5, 2024, and Test 02 on May 11, 2024. They were both conducted in the morning shift between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Candidates had the option of taking one or both tests, with the best score taken to be admitted finally. Such a format of a best-of-two gave more flexibility and an opportunity to achieve better results.

SLAT Exam Pattern

The exam duration was 60 minutes, featuring 60 objective-type questions worth 1 mark each. There was no negative marking, encouraging candidates to attempt all questions. The test was divided into five equal sections:

SLAT 2024: Overall Analysis

The SLAT 2024 was an MCQ computer-based test (CBT) that could be used to assess the reasoning, legal acumen, and general awareness. This trend was not any different to the past years-there were no significant surprises. It is considered to be not as tough as exams such as CLAT, but the fact that there is a strict 60-minute time constraint requires high levels of speed and accuracy.

Key features included:

No negative marking (attempt all questions confidently)
No sectional time limits, with full navigation allowed between and within sections

The test focused on foundational skills—no deep prior legal knowledge was required for Legal Reasoning. Direct, practice-oriented questions made high scores achievable with consistent mock practice.

Student feedback indicated an overall difficulty of Easy to Moderate, though some found the paper lengthy, particularly in Analytical Reasoning.

This slot was generally rated predominantly Easy to Easy-Moderate, with less lengthiness compared to Test 01, making it more student-friendly.

Conclusion

SLAT 2024 was an overall easy-to-moderate difficulty exam that was fairly balanced and student friendly. Lack of negative marking and two attempts were in favour of the well-prepared candidates. Their success will depend on the ability to follow speed habits and that at that, by conducting regular mocks, updating daily on the latest affairs and researching past trends.
