What is JIPMAT?
JIPMAT, or Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test, is a National Level Entrance exam for a 5-year Integrated Program in Management (IPM). Many have acclaimed it as the best way to get an MBA degree from one of the top IIMs without experiencing the stress of competing in the CAT exam (which usually requires a 90+ percentile for admission). After qualifying for JIPMAT, you complete your bachelor's and master's in business management through a five-year integrated program. Students with 60%(55% for SC/ST/PwD) marks in HSC/Class 12 in any of the streams, including arts/commerce/science, are eligible to appear in JIPMAT. While IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya participated in the exam last year, more institutes such as IIM Ranchi are speculated to offer integrated programs to students after class 12th.
This is not the only way for students to get into IIMs right after the 12th. IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak conduct IPMAT to offer students a stream-neutral career option, the 5-year Integrated Program in Management(IPM).
Why JIPMAT?
For those who start CAT exam prep in school to get an opportunity in one of the IIMs, JIPMAT 2023 can be a great way to lay a strong foundation to achieve your dream just after school. With an integrated program, students looking for a successful career in management after graduation get a chance to enrol in one of the IIMs for graduation. Multiple IIMs and several other b-schools are now aiming to help students excel as highly qualified management professionals and potential business leaders with a complete program providing two business management degrees.
Below, we have outlined some reasons why students in 12th should or already are preparing for JIPMAT 2023 and why it will be widely popular soon.
  • JIPMAT exam is somewhat based on your high school curriculum, with most parts from Class 10 & 12 Arithmetic, Geometry, and Algebra. While you may have to prepare well for VARC, the QA is entirely based on class 10 standard. Only DILR requires extra attention since it's different from what is taught in classes 11-12.
  • Be part of the IIM brand to become socially responsible and emotionally mature right after your +2. While many will be exploring what career options they should pick, you will be ready with your graduation & post-graduation plan.
  • JIPMAT allows you to sit with some of the sharpest brains (IITians, PhDs, etc.) that reach IIMs after the CAT exam without you appearing in CAT. It's up to you whether you want to join an IIM after your graduation through CAT or if you want to start your career in IIM itself.

JIPMAT 2023 Accepting Colleges
Since it is a dual degree integrated program tailored to the participating bodies, only two colleges take part and accept JIPMAT scores, including IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya. However, there are speculations that other IIMs are also looking to conduct and accept JIPMAT 2023 score. IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya launched their 5-year IPM last year to help students get a dual degree BBA and MBA after completing the program. 2023-28 will be the second IPM batch, and the test will be conducted in 76 cities across the nation by NTA.

JIPMAT Preparation Tips
Unlike other competitive exams after class 12 or graduation, JIPMAT is relatively easier. But a preparation strategy should be in place considering around 7000 to 8000 people compete for 120 seats. Consider these few important tips to prepare and crack JIPMAT 2023.
  • An obvious tip is that you should work on your strengths first. Cover your strong points from the last three years of school, and then you can move on to your shortcomings.
  • Plan a few tasks in breaks that indirectly help you prepare for JIPMAT, such as reading a book and deriving notes.
  • Several experts and students consider VARC as the simplest section and thus recommend candidates prepare for it at the end.
  • JIPMAT might be just in the second year, and you may not have any previous year question papers, but to understand the difficulty level of the exam, you can solve as many mock test papers as you can. Moreover, you can also check out previous question papers of IPMAT, which is again an entrance test for a 5-year dual degree integrated program in IIM Rohtak and IIM Indore.
  • Pick up your Math textbooks from classes 10, 11, and 12 to prepare for the entire QA section.
