Apart from the entrance exam, the candidate is selected after a rigorous selection process. It is mandatory that they have either completed Class XII or hold a diploma post 10 years of schooling from any stream recognized by Government of India boards. Further, they must walk through the following process to secure a seat in IIM Kozhikode’s BMS program:
  • Once the application consisting of all the documents and entrance test score is submitted, candidates are shortlisted based on Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS is calculated on the basis of Class XII/Diploma performance and Class X marks.
  • The shortlisted candidates are then called in for Personal Interviews (PI), which are conducted in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and New Delhi. The PI generally evaluates a student's academic efforts, general awareness, social disposition, attitude, personality, communication skills and program fit. The duration of the interview is generally around 15 minutes.
  • The candidate’s profile then goes under the Final Selection Process based on Academic Performance, Entrance Scores and Personal Interview. Then, a merit list is created for each category. It is important to note that the admission offers are based on merit list and Government of India reservation norms.
  • Reservation quota is based on the Government of India reservation policy for Central Educational Institutions. Qualified Categories include NC-OBC, SC, ST, PwD and EWS. Candidates must opt for relevant categories and submit required documents during application.
Please note: IIM Kozhikode’s official website (https://iimk.ac.in/) has included some sample papers on their official website. It is encouraged that the student practices the same before appearing for IIMK BMS-AT.
