To accommodate the growing demand of skilled professionals in Science, Technology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University has introduced Bachelor of Science (Hons.) facilitated by the Honours School System and Bachelor of Pharmacy Programmes. B.Sc. (Hons.) and B. Pharmacy Programmes
The Bachelors of Science (Hons.) under the Honours School of System and the Bachelors in Pharmacy under the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) are both 4 year programmes. The B.Sc. (Hons.) programme is offered in various disciplines such as Anthropology, Biochemistry, Botany, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics among others, while the B. Pharmacy programme has been curated to lay focus on pharmaceutical sciences.
PU-CET Entrance Exam Details
The Panjab University Common Entrance Test for Undergraduate students is known to be highly competitive and merit based. However, they are mandatory in order to get admission into B.Sc. (Hons.) and B. Pharmacy programmes.
The entrance exam will be conducted in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics. The candidate will be asked to choose a combination of subjects suited best according to their choice of the programme(s) and subjects they have studied in Class XII or its equivalent examination. Combinations are PCB / PCM / M. Each subject will amount to 60 questions and 70 minutes, respectively.
Important Note: The official notification for PU-CET Exam has been released. The entrance exam for UG course intake 2026-2027 will be held on December 28, 2025 (Sunday).

Eligibility Details
  • Class XII (or equivalent) in the Science stream (depending on the chosen discipline)
  • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics are compulsory subjects for B. Pharmacy students.
  • The candidate must be 20 years or less. 25 for reserved category.
Admission Process: B.Sc. (Hons.) and B. Pharmacy programmes
Panjab University follows a standard course of action to select candidates for their programmes. The bureaucratic process is quite transparent and available on its official website for the candidates to view. Following pointers explain the comprehensive step process for admission into B.Sc. (Hons.) and B. Pharmacy programmes:
  • The candidate is required to take the Panjab University Common Entrance Test for Undergraduate students, commonly known as PU-CET (explained in the section above)
  • After qualifying the exam, the candidate must fill all the admission forms (including reserved category, if applicable) before the deadline mentioned on the official website.
  • In the time span of 15-20 days, a tentative merit list will be released, following which the candidate will be required to submit their preferences for B.Sc. (Hons.) under the framework of Hons. School System (4 Years Programme as per NEP-2020) and B. Pharma Courses. Please note this is a complete online process.
  • Again, the university will display Provisional Merit List on website and commence with their seat allocation process and counselling sessions. This process of seat allocation and counselling will continue until the allotted seats are full.
  • Finally, classes usually begin in July end or August beginning for the selected students.

Bachelors in Pharmacy
