SET 2019 Analysis

Symbiosis International University conducted SET BBA 2019 exam for admission to under graduate programs in management, mass communication, BCA, Economics, Liberal Arts & Hotel Management was conducted on 4th May 2019 
The paper had 4 sections, Quantitative Ability (40 Questions), General English (40 Questions), General Awareness (40 Questions) and Analytical & Logical Reasoning (30 Questions). The allotted time was 150 minutes with 150 questions to be attempted. There was no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Section I: Quantitative Ability
There were 2 sets of Data Interpretation, each consisting of 3 questions. 1 of these sets was based on Bar-graphs, while the other was based on Tables. Both of these sets were easy to moderate. 2 questions on Data Sufficiency were difficult. There were total 4 questions on Number series and Directions of which 3 were easy and 1 was moderate. There were 2 questions on Average and 1 question each from Time and Work, Set -theory, Geometry & Mensuration and Rankings. There were total 5 questions on Permutations & Combinations, Probability which were of easy to moderate level. There were 2 questions from Algebra which were relatively easy.
This section had majority of questions from Arithmetic. There were 6 - 7 questions on Percentage and its applications, of which 5 - 6 were easy and 1- 2 were difficult. There were 4 questions on Ratio Proportion which were of moderate level. There were 2 questions on Time, Speed and Distance of which 1 was easy and the other was of moderate difficulty level.
Level of difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Section II: General English
There were two RC passages with 4 questions each. Most of the questions were direct and of easy to moderate level.
In Grammar, there were 4 questions on asked on identifying the correct sentence and 6 questions were asked on grammar - based Fill in the blanks – in which candidates were asked to answer the question using appropriate conjunction/gerund/infinitive. Overall the grammar based questions and questions on Idioms and Phrases were easy.
This section had majority of questions from Vocabulary and its applications. There were around 16 - 17 questions, which included 4 - 5 questions on Synonyms and Antonyms of which 3 questions were easy, around 3 questions on Proverbs, 3 - 4 questions on Idioms and Phrases, and around 5 questions on Vocabulary based Fill in the Blanks.
Section III: General Awareness
There were questions on Important Days, Geography, Deficiency of Vitamins, Classical Dance forms etc, Economics, Books and Authors, and Sports. The questions from Current affairs were from Nobel Prize, Sports, Polity, Movies, Who’s who, National Film Awards etc. All in all, around 13-14 questions were manageable with good accuracy.
Most of the questions were from Static GK. There were 2 questions in Static GK in which the candidates were to identify the person in the photograph and there were 2 questions in which the candidates had to identify the logo. Most of these questions were easy. A well-read student must have cracked at least 3 of these questions easily.
Section IV: Analytical & Logical Reasoning
There were around 9 questions on verbal reasoning. These included Statement and Course of Action, Analogies, Syllogisms, Cause-Effect etc which were of moderate to difficult level. There were 4 questions on Set-Theory which were relatively easy. There were 3 questions on coding-decoding which were of easy to moderate level.

There were 2 questions on Blood-Relations also which were of moderate level. There were questions on Clocks, Identifying the missing number in the grid and missing alphabet in the series, which were difficult.  There was one question on Visual Reasoning which was of easy level. In this section, there were 5 questions of Arrangement & Puzzles which were of easy to moderate level.
