CLAT 2025 Analysis - The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 was conducted on 1st December from 2 pm to 4 pm. The National Law Universities will accept the CLAT 2025 scores for admission into its undergraduate law programs. This article gives a detailed CLAT analysis 2025.
The CLAT 2025 exam was conducted in a paper and pen-based mode and had 120 questions across 5 areas: English, Current Affairs including General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques. The questions carried one mark each with 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer. The overall feel of the paper was easy to slightly moderate compared to previous years’ CLAT.
There was one surprise element in one of the sets of logical reasoning sections, which had six questions based on seating arrangements, out of which 4 questions had errors. Students reported that the correct answer to these questions was not given in any of the options. Besides this, no major change or variation was observed in the exam. A total of 2 hours (120 minutes) was given and the questions were distributed across the sections as follows:

CLAT 2025 Section-wise Analysis
A total of 120 multiple choice questions made up the CLAT exam and the subjects on which a candidate was asked to comprehend were- General Knowledge & Current Affairs, English including comprehension, Legal reasoning, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques.
I. English:
Evaluation: This section had 24 questions. The level of questions in this section was easy to moderate, and most of the passages were understandable. There were 4 reading comprehension passages. Each passage had 6 questions. The questions were primarily based on contextual understanding of the passages. The questions were mostly direct & easy to slightly tricky. Every passage had at least one question based on contextual vocabulary. Passages were based on ‘motives & influences behind writing, child centered education approach, education & knowledge based on edits, & an astrologer’s setting & livelihood’. The passages were moderate in length.
Essential Skills Required: Good reading speed and an understanding of diverse areas.
Overall Feel: Easy to Moderate.

II. Current Affairs including General Knowledge:
Evaluation: This year, the GK Section of the CLAT 2025 exam was of moderate.; There were 28 questions in the GK area. There were 5 passages, and each passage had 6 questions except one which had 4 questions. The topics of the passages were fair mix of historical context & Current Affairs of the last six months, with passages coming from diverse areas such as women's reservation bill, the Olympics, civil disobedience, BRICS summit, & abrogation of article 370,
Essential Skills Required: Awareness of Current Events, Critical Thinking and Analysis
Overall Feel: Moderate.
Good Attempt: 23-25 questions
III. Legal Reasoning:
Evaluation: This year, the Legal Section of the CLAT 2025 exam was of moderate to slightly tough level. There were 32 questions in the Legal Reasoning area, making it the lengthiest area of the exam. There were 6 passages, with 4 passages having 5 questions & two passages having 6 questions. The subjects in the passages range from &lsquo the Public Examination Act, juvenile justice & posco, intellectual property rights, the right to privacy in the digital era, and the right to life with climate justice to contract (void & voidable). Most of the passages were from current law except one passage contracts laws, which had static flavour.
Essential Skills Required: Inferential understanding while solving the questions
Overall Feel: Moderate to Difficult.

IV. Logical Reasoning
Evaluation: This section had 24 questions which included 4 passages with six questions each. The surprise element was that in this section, there was a set of six questions based on seating arrangement. The level of questions in this section was moderate. This section contained questions based on contextual understanding of the passage i.e. not purely based on conventional critical reasoning except one or two questions based on conventional critical reasoning. This, again, was a reading-based section with passages from diverse areas such as ‘ efficiency & change’, homelessness a global issue, seating arrangement, & lifestyle affecting mental health .
Essential Skills Required: Good reading speed and very basic knowledge of critical reasoning fundamentals
Overall Feel: Moderate

V. Quantitative Techniques:
Evaluation: There were 2 sets of 6 questions each (1 set of Percentage and 1 set of Average) which were of medium to difficult level. The first set is about the monthly income and expenses of a person working in a Construction Company, and it is a moderate-level set. The second set is based on the World Inequality Report 2022, in which the labor income of male agriculture field laborers and women agriculture field laborers are being compared, and it is a difficult set.
