SAT Registration and Application Form

SAT is a Scholastic Assessment Test conducted by the College Board for admissions to undergraduate programmes in the US and Canada. The paper-based test is conducted to assess students' college readiness and reading, writing, language, and mathematical skills. Students willing to take the exam can do SAT Registration through offline and online modes. SAT is conducted seven times in the US and five times internationally.
Students can easily register for SAT through online and offline modes throughout the year. SAT Exam is conducted five times a year in March, May, August, October, and December. However, registration for SAT is easier as the student first has to create their College Board account, fill in the required details, select the date from the test schedule, book the test centre and date, and make the payment.

SAT Registration Process
SAT Registration Online
SAT Registration is available in both online and offline mode. Students must follow the below-mentioned steps to register for SAT Exam online-
Step 1 – Create a College Board Account
  • Candidates of age 13 and above can create their College Board account for SAT Registration.
  • In their case, no parent, guardian, or counsellor can register on their behalf.
  • Upon signing up and filling in all the required details, students will receive a page to enter their username, password, and the security question. A confirmation mail will be sent on the registered mail id. After confirming the same, they can proceed to fill in their application form.
Step 2 - Filling the SAT Registration Form
In this step, students will have to log in using their username and password to start form filling further.
  • Students will have to fill in their personal information, mailing address, and high-school information.
  • Information about their parents/guardians and demographic information
  • Also, students will have to provide their academic information like Extracurricular activities, GPA/Rank, Course Works and College Details
Step 3 – Book SAT Registration Test Dates and Centre and Payment
After providing all the details about the testing country, students will get SAT Test Schedule and SAT Exam Centres list to choose from as per their convenience. Hereafter, you move ahead and make payment for the SAT Registration.
For SAT Subject Tests also, students will have to follow similar steps. However, the students here need to select subjects they are planning to get tested on.
SAT Registration by Mail
SAT Online registrations take 30 minutes and are the easiest to do. However, if a candidate wishes to register for SAT by Mail, they need to talk to their counsellors for the Student Registration Booklet for SAT and SAT Subject Tests. Registration through the mail is available in the following cases –
  • The candidate is 12 years of age or younger
  • Requests the test centre location near their home or Sunday testing
  • Unable to upload a digital photograph
  • Paying the examination fees through money order or cheque
  • Sunday testing is not available in India
However, for registrations via mail, candidates will need the following items-
  • An acceptable photo
  • A form of payment
  • A clergy letter, if applicable
  • A fee waiver card, if applicable
Mail Registration Deadlines
For candidates registering by mail to test outside the US –
  • The authority must receive registration forms via mail by the international deadlines.
  • Deadlines expire at 11:59 PM Eastern Time, US.
  • There is no late registration for International Testing
SAT Registration: Photo Requirements
For online SAT Registration, candidates must upload photos that are clear front-faced and provide a shoulder view. As per religious purposes, headcovers are acceptable as far as the eyes and the face are visible. Candidates are advised not to wear reflectors or sunglasses. Photos that are blurry, tampered or digitally altered will be rejected if the face in the photo is not identifiable.
The photo attached must be of a minimum size of 2 x 2 inches or 2.5 x 3 inches in size for registrations via mail. Besides, it must have the name of the candidate, date of birth, and high school code written on the back of the photograph. Laminated and ID card pictures are rejected. Also, candidates are advised not to use staples, glue, or paper clips in the photo.

SAT Test Centres
Due to COVID-19, a few SAT centres have been closed. However, for the candidate's safety, many universities have implemented that the test will be optional. Based on the current pandemic situation, it is expected that the test centres might be closed even on the test days. The College Board keeps updating information about the test centres on their official website. Thus, candidates must check for test centre information on the website, even on the test day.
Due to health factors, SAT centres are operating in a limited capacity. Besides, the functioning SAT Test Centres are working on maintaining social distancing. Candidates and invigilators at the centre are advised to wear their masks and be seated 6 feet apart. Any candidate restraining from adhering to the guidelines might be dismissed from the test centre.
