What is Integrated Programme in Management (IPM)?
Curated with the aim of developing all-rounder professionals, the 5-year-long Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) is offered at IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Indore, IIM Jammu, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak and IIM Shillong. IPM is fully residential and has been designed to help students achieve a seamless transition from a Bachelor's degree (BBA) (except IIM Amritsar, which offers BSQFE and IIM Indore which offer BA) to a Masters Degree (MBA). All IIMs that offer IPM are known for creating a modern curriculum that gives students a well-rounded education, combining tough academic work with deeper thinking.
Individuals with countless dreams and the passion to achieve them in no time can benefit from this course, as IPM eliminates the potential stress of appearing in the Common Admission Test (CAT), one of India’s most competitive entrance exams, with a very low selection rate.
While all these IIMs welcome students to their IPM program with the same energy, their Entrance Examination and/or conducting body is different. IIM Indore, IIM Amritsar, IIM Ranchi and IIM Shillong accept IPMAT Indore. IIM Rohtak conducts its own IPMAT. Lastly, IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu accept JIPMAT, which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
What is Bachelor of Management (BMS) (Hons w/Research)?
Offered by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, a Bachelor of Management (BMS) (Hons. w/Research) is a four-year-long extensive program. Launched not long ago, IIM Kozhikode welcomed its first BMS batch in 2025 with the aim of making them professionally ready for organizational roles and global markets, including challenges like the ability to address sustainability issues and readiness for advanced studies in India or abroad.
The BMS Programme has an exit option, meaning the enrolled student can choose to leave this program after three academic years with a Bachelor of Management Studies. However, upon completion of four academic years of this course, the student will have an opportunity to graduate with a Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) (Hons. w/Research). In order to get admission into this program, the student is required to appear for IIMK BMS Aptitude Test (IIMK BMS AT), which is conducted by the institute itself, and qualify for the minimum eligibility criteria.
What is BBA in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship (BBA DBE)?
The BBA in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship (DBE) is a revolutionary program designed to educate students along the lines of the digital economy. This three-year program has been designed to help students gain knowledge in subjects like business management, digital technologies, and entrepreneurial strategies, eventually building assets in the world of startups, e-commerce and digital transformation.
The BBA DBE program is equipped with multiple exit options, meaning if the student chooses to leave after the first academic year, they will be rewarded with a certificate. Year two will be granted with a diploma. Finally, Year three will be awarded with a degree. To get admission in this program, the student needs to meet the minimum eligibility requirements along with a merit score of IIMB DBE Entrance Test or CUET (UG) General Test (Section III) scores or JEE Main scores.
What is Bachelor of Science (Hons) (w Economics or Data Science)?
Programme initiated by the Indian Institute (IIM) Bangalore, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) (Honours) is four years long. This fully residential program offers two pathways, namely, BSc (Hons) in Economics (with minors in Data Science and Business Studies) and BSc (Hons) in Data Science (with minors in Economics and Business Studies). The students who choose to opt for economics have the opportunity to learn about economics, econometrics, and statistical inference. On the other hand, students who opt for data science will be fortunate to learn about stochastic processes, algorithms, data structures, and applied business learning.
Both these programs have an exit option, meaning, the student can choose to leave this program after completing three academic years, provided they meet the minimum qualification requirements. Students who choose to exit will be awarded with a plain Bachelors degree, however, students who choose to complete the entire course will receive a Bachelors degree along with the Honours. If the individual aspires to study any of the above-mentioned programme, they will be required to appear for IIMB UG Admissions Test and meet the minimum eligibility criteria.
What is Integrated Programme in Law (IPL)?
Offered at IIM Rohtak, the Integrated Programme in Law (IPL) is a 5-year-long course that follows the structure of combining a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and law (LLB). The fully residential interdisciplinary program offers a perfect blend of business management concepts with education on law and governance.
Spread across 15 terms, IIM Rohtak has clarified that IPL has no exit option, meaning the student needs to complete the entire duration of the course with minimum qualifying criteria to receive the degree from IIM Rohtak. In order to qualify for the program, the student is required to appear for IPMAT Rohtak (with an added legal section) or CLAT and qualify for the merit list cut-off score. Each IPL batch seats 120 students.
What is the Integrated Programme in Technology and Management (IPTM)?
The Integrated Programme in Technology and Management (IPTM) is a 6-year-long dual degree offered jointly by two reputed institutes, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). The former institute is responsible for hosting students for a Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech.), which extends for four years, followed by the latter being responsible for educating students in a Master in Business Administration (MBA) for another two years.
IPTM has been designed to help students skip the Common Admission Test (CAT) for MBA, which has a very low selection rate, and continue with the entire course of study. However, at the same time, IPTM has an exit option after 4 years, meaning the student can choose to leave the program after four academic years. In order to qualify for admission, an IPTM aspirant needs to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), and meet the minimum eligibility criteria.
Is There An Exit Option at IIM UG Courses?
IIM UG Courses have been curated with the expectation that the student will commit to the entirety of the course design and tenure. However, the flagship understands that the entire course is quite lengthy and might delay an individual’s professional trajectory. Thus, the IIM UG programs accommodate flexibility through their Exit Option, meaning students have the flexibility of decision and can choose to leave the program at the end of an annual year and graduate with the degree offered after the respective tenure completion.
However, before choosing to exit the IPM course specifically, it is advisable that students consider the drawback it might come with. If the student chooses to leave the programme after three years and later change their mind and wish to pursue a master's, they will have to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) or any other equivalent MBA Entrance Examination.

Why Pursue UG from IIM?
Before delving into learning about the various programs offered at different IIMs, it is important to understand why the IIM chain is more reputed and preferred than any other UG College:
- Academic Rigor with Ethical Values: All the courses at IIMs have been curated to cater to two-fold dimensions of education, meaning the courses pioneer students to be industry-ready through their theoretically detailed and on-field curriculum. In addition to this, all the programmes at IIMs in some or the other way aim to inculcate ethical and social values to help students comfortably lead their professional and social lives.
- Globally Reputed Brand Value: An IIM degree is respected beyond India when compared to other Institutes. This advantage helps young professionals to be a step ahead of the competition and redeem themselves through an IIM Alumni Status.
- Handsome Placement Record: All the IIMs hold the reputation of a 100% placement record. Students graduating from IIMs have the opportunity to get placed at companies like McKinsey, Google, Adobe, Microsoft and other leading names with a handsome placement package.
- Multiple Exit Options: The IIM UG Courses are generally long and reserve 5-6 years of their students' lives. While most courses are dual-degree courses (Bachelors and Masters), the institute understands that some students want to start their professional journey ahead of others. Thus, all IIMs offer flexibility of decision to students, allowing them to leave the program at a defined interval.
- Eliminate CAT: As mentioned above, most UG Courses at IIMs offer a dual degree, usually a combination of a bachelor's and a master's. Therefore, in order to pursue an MBA from IIM, students have the opportunity to skip the Common Admission Test (CAT), one of India’s most competitive entrance exams, and continue excelling in their professional education journey.
