Law courses after 12th standard

Students of 12th standard  with  Science, Commerce and Arts stream, who have cleared the Board exams from a recognized board are eligible to apply for the Integrated Law course (5 years long) program.
Some examples of the Integrated Law Programs are-
  • B.A. LL.B.
  • B.B.A. LL.B.
  • B.Sc. LL.B.
  • B.Tech. LL.B.
  • B.Com. LL.B.
  • B.S.W. LL.B.
It is quite evident from the above courses, that the Integrated Law Program is nothing but a combination of two degree programs. One of such programs is Law (L.L.B.). The other degree varies & students may select an appropriate one that suits their areas of interest.
What is an integrated Law course?
Firstly, an integrated Law course helps one get two traditional degrees. The modern idea of studying law is no more limited to getting a separate LLB degree from a Law school after your graduation. In the present times, when time is of great essence and everyone is a part of the everyday rat race, an integrated course acts as a life-saver as the entire program is of five years as opposed to pursuing three year law program which gets extended to six-seven years depending upon your graduation degree. And in a field like law, where seniority has a major role to play, you’ll always be on the winning end with the integrated program! Another benefit which such programs entail is that you give the exam once but you get two degrees in return! Hence, no separate entrance exam for law once you graduate.
Eligibility criteria to pursue an integrated Law course:
When it comes to the eligibility criteria, a candidate must have passed the12th standard, under the 10+2 schooling system from a recognised board. There aren't any restrictions regarding the stream that a student hails from. So, students from Science, Commerce or the Arts stream may pursue this course after completing their 10+2 schooling program. A minimum of 50% marks is required for admission into prominent institutes. Also, in case of many institutes, the merit marks scored in the All India Entrance Test plays an important role at the time of admission process. So, students should watch out for major law exams such as CLAT, AILET, HPNLU, SLAT, AIL entrance exam, etc.

Skills required to thrive in this career:
Lawyers are supposed to be excellent orators! A lawyer who fails to put across his/her point can’t thrive for long in this field. Hence, those who have good communication skills, have confidence, can prove their stance/point, have good logical and reasoning skills & are quick in thinking will lead  in this field. Some other skills that will come handy are -  good memory, street smartness & authoritative attitude.
General details about integrated Law course & its duration:

There are many such combinations  possible, like -
  • B.A.+L.L.B., B.Sc.+L.L.B., B.Com.+L.L.B. etc.
