The Consortium of National Law Universities organizes CLAT annually, with different National Law Universities taking turns to conduct it. The CLAT 2026 exam was conducted on December 7, 2025, in offline (pen and paper) mode with 120 questions. The results were declared on December 16, 2025. Following the results, the Consortium of NLUs releases cut-offs during the counselling process through merit lists and allotment rounds for various participating NLUs.
Factors determining CLAT Cut-off
Admissions officers will examine the following factors when determining the cut-off:
  1. The number of candidates who appeared for the CLAT 2026 entrance test.
  2. How many of these applicants apply for admission during counselling?
  3. Previous Cut-Off trends.
  4. The number of seats available for the 5-year LLB programme.
  5. Category (SC, ST, etc.)
  6. Cutoff patterns from previous years.
If any of these factors change, the CLAT cut-off will also change. For example, the cutoff will rise if the number of applications grows or the exam is easier. In contrast, as the number of applicants decreases or exam difficulty increases, the cutoff will most certainly decrease as well.

Please note that these are the expected cut-off ranks for General Category only. These may vary for OBC, SC and ST categories, depending on NLU and domicile reservations. Actual cut-offs will be released during the counselling rounds starting soon.
