All about NIFT Exam

The National Institute of Fashion and Technology (NIFT) conducts a national level entrance exam for the admission of the candidates to its various UG and PG level courses every year. Upon clearing the entrance exam, the students can get admission to B.Des, B.F.Tech, M.Des and MFM programmes. The university conducts the exam at two levels, the Creativity Ability Test (CAT), and the General Ability Test (GAT) for giving admission to the students in the different courses they offer.

NIFT Results
Candidates who have appeared for the NIFT will be able to view their written test results.
After the announcement of the results, the selected candidates have to appear in situation test/group discussion/personal interview rounds, as per the courses they wish to take admission.
The final result for UG & PG courses will be declared after the Interviews and Group Discussion is done. Candidates will have to check it only through online mode from their official website.
NIFT Admit Card 2022
The admit card has been provided to students only through online mode.
NIFT hall ticket will not be sent via post. In case of any discrepancy in the admit card, you can contact the officials immediately.
NIFT Exam Pattern 2022
Given below is the exam pattern of NIFT entrance 2022:
Exam mode: The examination will be conducted via pen and paper based mode.
Papers: There will be two papers conducted, i.e. CAT and GAT (as applicable).
Medium: The question paper will be in English language.
Duration: The exam duration will be 120 minutes (2 hours) for B.Des and M.Des.
Negative Marking: There will be no negative marking.

NIFT Syllabus 2022
The syllabus of the NIFT entrance exam has been divided into two sections, i.e. CAT and GAT.
GAT syllabus for M.Des/B.Des courses will contain topics such as Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability.
CAT test will judge the ability, power of observation in concept development and design ability of the candidate.
It also tests the creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills.
Eligibility Criteria
Given below are the eligibility criteria for various UG and PG courses offered by NIFT:
Eligibility for B.Des
  1. The maximum age limit will be 23 years as on 1st October 2022.
  2. Five years relaxation in the upper age limit will be provided to SC/ST and PwD candidates.
  3. 10+2, or 3 or 4 years diploma holder candidates are eligible to apply.
  4. Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam are also eligible to apply.
Eligibility for PG Courses
There will be no age limit for PG courses.
