Top law colleges in Assam consist of many private and government law colleges. Assam University (AU) came into existence in 1994 after enactment of the Assam (Central) University Act 1989.
The main objective of the Law faculty is to impart quality multi-dimensional legal education. And prepare students for the diverse world of litigation, law, corporate firms and research as well as to fulfill the legal expectation of people of Assam by reaching out to them through legal counselling and legal aid.
It has been accredited 'A' grade by NAAC. The university has sixteen schools which offer Humanities, Languages, Environmental Sciences, Information Sciences, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Technology and Management Studies. There are 42 departments under these sixteen schools. The five districts under the jurisdiction of Assam University have 56 undergraduate colleges. Assam University is an institutional signatory to the Global Universities Network for Innovation (GUNI), Barcelona and United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) for its commitment to educational social responsibilities.

- The application process is only online as well as offline
- A candidates must have passed higher secondary or equivalent examination from a recognized board for admission to UG courses
- Admission to PG courses is based upon a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 45% in graduation
Assam University Silchar - Eligibility
- Passed Higher Secondary Examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate with
English as a compulsory subject from any recognized Board or Council.
- Relaxation of 5% of marks will be given to SC, ST, OBC & MOBC candidates who are permanent residents of Assam.
