What is the CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria?
The CLAT Eligibility Criteria is quite self-explanatory and straightforward. The following pointers will help you understand more about the CLAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria:
- There is no upper age limit for students who wish to appear for CLAT. Therefore, regardless of your age, you can apply for CLAT UG programs.
- Further, aspirants who are either appearing or have passed Class 12th or the equivalent exam can appear for CLAT 2027.
- General Category candidates should score minimum of 45% or an equivalent grade in the Class 12th exam. The reserved category (SC/ST/PwD), however, requires only 40% to qualify for the CLAT entrance exam.
- Please note that candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in March/April 2027 are also eligible to apply. However, they have to produce a certificate and/or evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission. Those failing to do so might face a loss of their right to be considered for admission.

How Can I Apply for CLAT 2027?
CLAT 2027 registration window is open as of August 3, 2026, and the last date to apply is October 31, 2026. For those who are looking for some more information on the application guidelines and process, refer to the points below:
- Once the applicant is sure that they are eligible to apply for the CLAT entrance examination, they will be required to create their login ID online in order to access their portal at different stages.
- To register for the same, the applicant will be asked to list down their personal details like name, email ID, and contact number and create a password.
- Once the registration process is done, you will be required to fill in the application form by providing details like your past academic records and certificates for the same. If you fall under the reserved category, you will be required to validate the same with the needed certificates. Next, you will also be asked to select the top three exam centres. CLAT 2027 is expected to be held at 131 exam centres spread across 25 states and 5 union territories.
- Further, you will also be asked to upload a passport-sized photograph and a digital signature in order to verify your identity.
- After completely filling out the CLAT application form, you will be required to pay your application fee via credit/debit/UPI or net banking. This marks the last step in the ordeal; once done, your CLAT application is complete.

A: If you are sure you will take the CLAT to pursue a legal career, the Humanities or the Commerce stream is the one to choose, followed by B.A. LLB or B.Com LLB, respectively.
