The LSAT─IndiaTM is a standardised law school entrance exam that has been widely recognised and accepted for law school admissions at multiple colleges in India since its inception in 2009. The test asesses high-level reading, informal reasoning, and deductive reasoning skills. These acquired critical thinking skills are essential to succeed in law college and in the practice of law.

Exam Pattern
The LSAT—India™ assesses critical thinking skills with three types of multiple-choice questions.
Developed by LSAC’s expert psychometricians, this entrance exam is standardised to focus on the skills crucial to future success, providing students a platform to prepare for a competitive legal career. Skills are assessed based upon the following sections and parameters:
- Analytical reasoning: These questions test deductive reasoning skills by requiring students to deduce what could or must be the case about a certain scenario, based on some rules and conditions.
- Logical reasoning: These questions evaluate the student’s ability to understand, analyse, criticise, and complete a variety of arguments contained in short passages.
- Reading comprehension: These questions measure the ability to read, with understanding and insight, examples of lengthy and complex materials like those commonly encountered in law colleges.

Application Form and Registration:
The LSAT—India
TM 2023 application form became available online on 10
th November 2022. Online registrationcan be completed at
www.LSATIndia.in through 26
th May 2023.
The candidate will need a valid email address, mobile number, and one of the
valid photo IDs from the acceptable ID list. The candidate will also be required to pay the requisite test fee via any of the multiple digital payment options available.
LSAT—IndiaTM is typically conducted twice every year to provide candidates the opportunity to take the test when they feel they are better prepared. Candidates who perform poorly in the first test can make a second attempt to improve their score.
Note: The candidate may choose to appear for the test in January and then decide to pay the fees for the test in June at a later stage by logging in into the same registration application. The candidate will be required to select the June test and pay the fee for the same. The candidate need not create another account or registration application for the same.
Pearson VUE will report all of candidate’ scores to all
the associated law colleges, however, the candidate may select which of the score reports to submit when applying to law colleges.
Registration process
The candidate will:
- Visit www.LSATIndia.in
- Click on Sign-Up and fill in personal details
- Verify their email ID registered during the sign-up process
- Return to lsatindia.in and login using the Username/Email ID and password registered during the sign-up process
- Complete the application form by uploading relevant documents and entering remaining details
- Submit the application form, then pay the registration fee
- Note: Pearson VUE accepts a variety of payment options including credit cards, debit cards, debit card + ATM PIN, internet banking, wallet, or cash card. All fees are charged in Indian Rupees.
- No refund requests will be entertained once the candidate has successfully registered
Once registration is complete:
- The candidate will receive a confirmation email. This information can also be accessed from the dashboard available in the registration application.
- As the test date approaches, the candidate may be required to submit a test appointment preference.
Eligibility Criteria:
All candidates who complete the test registration application including uploading a photo and electronic copy of valid photo ID, pay the registration fee in a timely manner, and follow the published test rules may sit for the LSAT─IndiaTM.
It is the candidate's responsibility to understand the eligibility requirements of the law college to which he/she is applying before deciding to register for the LSAT—IndiaTM. Ifa candidateregisters for the test and is later found to be ineligible for admission to the intended law school, no test-fee refund will be given. For the eligibility requirements, candidates should visit the respective law colleges' websites.
Candidates may take the test from within India or one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tanzania, Qatar, or Bahrain.

- Candidates applying for five-year integrated programmes are only required to appear for a XII class exam or have already cleared it.
- Candidates who are applying for the three-year LLB programme or LLM programmes are required to have completed their graduation or be in their final year.
- Candidates should also refer to the eligibility criteria of the law college that the candidate is interested in attending.

Minimum Marks Requirement
|
- There is no minimum marks requirement to be eligible for the examination, however the participating colleges mayhave their own minimum marks requirement for admissions to particular courses. Candidates shouldcheck the college/universities’ official website to learn more.

Age
|
- There is no age restriction for the LSAT—IndiaTM.
- Candidates should refer to the eligibility criteria, including any age limit set forth by the law college that candidate is interested in attending.

Some important points to remember:
- LSAT—IndiaTM 2023 will be administered online. All tests will be proctored remotely using AI-assisted technology and include recording the candidate’s entire examination via the computer’s web camera.
- The test consists of four timed sections of 35 minutes each. Candidates will not be able to attempt questions or review answers once the section time is over. Additional time will be provided for check-in procedures and other formalities before the test.
- If a candidate completes a section before the allotted section time expires, the balance of time will not be added to the next section’s allotted time.
- There is no negative marking or penalty for incorrect answers. The candidate will receive a scaled score between 420 and 480 as a percentile rank.
- Thetest cannot be accessed through mobile phones. Candidates should refer toTesting and Equipment Requirementsfor the Operating System needed to take the exam.
