Sikkim Government Law College

Top law colleges in Sikkim consist of many private and government colleges. However, there are only two law colleges in Sikkim. Also known as SGC, Sikkim government Law college was established in September 1980. It is affiliated to Sikkim University and is accredited A+ grade by NAAC. It is approved by UGC and the Bar Council of India, New Delhi.
Sikkim has a literacy rate of approximately 87% which itself proves the importance of education among the natives. Being rich in biodiversity and least populated state of India, it offers a good study environment for students. Law is a highly rated profession throughout India and one can find many professional job opportunities after completing their graduation.
The college imparts knowledge to its students as per the syllabus provided by the B.C.I for 5yr LL.B at the UG level. It is situated at Burtuk, on the outskirts of Gangtok in the midst of a peaceful ambience far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The college has remarkable infrastructural facilities. It encompasses Auditorium/Seminar Hall, sports ground and a resourceful library. The college also has a fairly established IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) and Anti Ragging cell. Faculty and Staff
The college has one of the finest faculty which makes it one of the best law colleges in Sikkim. The Innovative Practices in the faculty comprise of Legal Literacy, Practical training programme (legal internship), etc. Apart from this, the non-teaching staff is also very well behaved. Admission Procedure
  • Admission is based on the score secured by the candidate in CLAT.
  • The candidate must fulfil the eligibility criteria.
  • The application fee is INR 300 while the annual fee for the complete program is less than 1.5 Lacs.
  • The application fee for CLAT is INR 4000.
Eligibility Criteria
  • The minimum qualification required for admitting to the law programme is clearing 10+2 with 45% (40% for SC/ST).
  • There is no age limit.
