National Law School of India University was the first National Law University to be established in India in 1986. The university was setup with a mission to initiate legal education reforms, and to anchor the transformation of the India Legal System through research and policy interventions. Also, NLSIU is the first premier institution to introduce five-year integrated law degree at undergraduate level with its first batch in 1988.
NLSIU offers law programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. The university also conducts online programmes for distance education for students of all backgrounds. The college follows a trimester system and on commencement all of the students are provided with the respective study materials for each course. By providing study material, the institute expects students to be prepared for their classes and actively participate in discussions. However, the institute looks forward to the holistic development of its students.

The faculty at NLSIU is highly experienced and qualified legal professionals. The faculty has adopted unique teaching methodologies to promote multi-disciplinary inquiry and practical appreciation of problems. The teaching methodologies include Moot Courts, project works, Lectures, case studies and discussions. Also, NLSIU follows a unique pedagogy of Co-operative teaching where two or more teachers offer a course together and interact with students in the same class. This has helped in the development of students’ understanding and improved interactions between students and teachers. The faculty a NLSIU is easily accessible and the institute provides students with an opportunity to freely interact and discuss their legal doubts with the teachers.
Admission Procedure
  • NLSIU Bangalore shall conduct admissions through CLAT 2020.
  • Based on the qualifying score, students will be selected for the upcoming session.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board in first attempt scoring 45% (General) and 40% (SC/ST) in total.
  • There is no upper age limit to apply for this course.
  • Candidates who do not clear the exam with qualifying shall not be considered. Also, candidate with no statement of marks at the time of formal interviews are not eligible for admission.
  • However, the university holds the right to cancel admission of any candidate in accordance with the rules and regulations.
