Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1989. The faculty of law at JMI first had 3-year LLB programme, which made a significant progress in the previous years. Seeing the growing demand of law graduates, the faculty of law introduced 5-year BA. LLB (Hons.) programme from 2002, which replaced their 3-year LLB programme. Along with the Integrated Law Programme, the faculty even introduced Two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Criminal Laws, Personal Laws and Corporate Laws and PhD programme from the session 2000-2001. The faculty of law even organises Moot Courts within the classroom as well as Intra Moot Court Competitions and National Moot Competitions. In addition, college also arranges seminars and conferences periodically alongside Extension Lectures by prominent speakers from India and Abroad.

Faculty of Law at Jamia Millia Islamia is very good. The teachers have thorough knowledge about the subject and are highly-experienced. Faculty appointed at JMI are the alumni of prominent institutions of India and Abroad. The college also calls for guest lecturers who are eminent lawyers and excellent in their fields. Also, the teachers use different teaching methodologies and adopt innovative ways to teach students. Teachers make full use of technology and have complete emphasis on student’s learning and legal education.
Admission Procedure
  • Admissions to BA. LLB programme are Entrance Based.
  • Candidate must appear for JMI BA LLB Entrance exam.
  • Based on the merit list candidates are further called for counselling.
  • Jamia Millia Islamia also accepts CLAT score for admissions to law programmes.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board.
  • Candidate must have scored at least 50% marks and have a good command over English Language.
  • The age of the candidate should not be more than 20 years, if the candidate is of General category. For SC/ST/OBC, candidates must not be more than 22 years of age.
