MH-CET Law Exam Syllabus

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law (MH-CET Law) is conducted specifically for admission into both 3 year and 5 year integrated law courses in Maharashtra. The exam is 120 minutes long with exam pattern divided among 5 sections, namely, Legal Aptitude & Reasoning, General Knowledge of current affairs, Logical & Analytical Reasoning, English Language and Basic Mathematics. There are a total of 120 questions with each right answer being credited with one mark. There is no negative marking, making it safe to attempt a maximum number of questions.

Further, please note that the exam pattern and total number of questions have changed recently. The exam previously had 150 questions but the count has now been reduced to 120. This article aims to detail the new exam pattern, marks distribution along with sectional syllabus of commonly observed topics.

The section contains 32 questions and tests the candidate’s research aptitude and reasoning ability. All of the questions in this section are completely based on legal facts and propositions. The candidate must be clear with the basics and prepare this section wisely.

The section contains 24 questions. To ace this section, students must be updated with the recent happening in different areas. However, a few of the questions will be based on History, General Science, Economics, and Current Affairs. The pattern has been the same for the past year. Still, you can refer to the given topics and prepare accordingly.

The subject tests the candidate’s ability to find and mark the logical arguments, identify patterns and do logical thinking. The Analytical Reasoning section tests the candidate’s ability to understand relationships and draw logical conclusions out of them. The complete section contains 32 questions on different topics.

This section of the exam checks the candidate’s proficiency in English. However, the main focus is on Vocabulary, Grammar, and Comprehension.

The mathematic section looks forward to testing your elementary mathematical skills. The section contains 8 questions based on the following topics:

The time is limited, but the syllabus is vast. The difficulty level cannot be assumed, which is why you have to prepare for the exam wisely—practice mock-test papers and previous year papers to have an idea of your weaker and stronger sections. However, allocate time accordingly to each section. Study each topic carefully; moreover, students should study the question types of various sections to increase accuracy.
