IPM is a one-seamless, five-year program that leads to both a BBA and an MBA degree. It saves students the stress and uncertainty that come with preparing to take one of the toughest entrance exams in India, the CAT. Approximately 20,000 students take the IPMAT (entrance test to IPM) examination for 1,000+ seats, versus 13 lakh students on the JEE test with minimal seats in the top IITs. The selection process for IIM Ranchi’s IPM consists of four stages: Application Submission, Aptitude Test (IPMAT), Personal Interview (PI), and Final Selection. Below is a detailed overview of each stage.

Stage 1: Application Submission.

Applications should be done online and usually during the months of March-April, 2026 either via IIM Ranchi or through a shared IPM portal. The application fee would be approximately 2500/- (including GST 18%) for General/EWS/NC-OBC candidates and 1250/- (including GST 18%) for SC/ST/PwD candidates, which is non-refundable and non-transmissible. It is not possible to make amendments to the category after submission.

Stage 2: Aptitude Test (IPMAT)

IIM Ranchi takes the IPMAT scores of IPMAT Indore. The test is a computer-based test that evaluates the quantitative and verbal skills of the candidates. The test is likely to be administered in May 2026 and will be held in various cities, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Ranchi. IIM Ranchi has the authority to change or cancel the test centres.

Candidates who achieve positive raw scores and meet sectional cut-offs are selected for the Personal Interview. The PI is conducted in online or offline mode, evaluating the following aspects:
