AILET 2024 Analysis

The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) for 2024 was successfully conducted on December 10th from 11 am to 1 pm. The National Law University, Delhi, will consider AILET 2024 scores for admissions to their undergraduate law programs. NLU, Delhi has introduced a new pattern for AILET 2024, the time duration of AILET BA LLB 2024 has been increased from 90 minutes to 120 minutes while the number of questions has remained unchanged. The exam now consists of 150 questions to be completed in 120 minutes. The marking scheme remains unchanged at +1/-0.25. This article provides a detailed AILET 2024 Analysis.
First Impressions of AILET 2024
The questions will focus on these 3 areas: General Knowledge and Current Affairs (30 questions; 30 marks), Logical Reasoning (70 questions; 70 marks) and English Language (50 questions; 50 marks).
Like every year, the AILET 2024 exam was conducted in a paper and pen-based mode and had 150 questions this time, spread across 3 areas: English, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge including Current Affairs. The questions carried 1 mark each with 0.25 marks deducted for every incorrect answer. The overall feel of the paper was easy to moderate as compared to the previous years. There were no surprise elements & pattern was as anticipated by test takers. However, this also means the cut-off will be on the higher side this year, as a result accuracy will be of paramount importance to get a good score.
Overall, the AILET 2024 Exam can be considered easier to moderate and doable compared to its previous iterations.

AILET 2024 Analysis: Section-Wise
A total of 150 multiple choice questions make up the AILET examination, and the subjects on which a candidate is asked to comprehend are- General Knowledge and Current Affairs, English Comprehension and Logical Reasoning.
Below is a section-wise AILET 2024 Analysis
English Language
This section had 50 questions. The level of questions in this section was moderate to difficult, but most of the passages were understandable. There were 4 reading comprehension passages. Each passage had 6 questions. The questions were primarily based on contextual understanding and application of the understanding of the passage. The questions varied from the main idea to inference-based questions etc. Passages were based on the narrative of experiences in the hilly area, the art of presenting characters in the literature, the importance of literature & on justice for the middle class. The passages were moderate in length, and two out of 4 were slightly tricky in terms of understanding. The main skills required were good reading speed and an understanding of diverse areas.
As per our AILET Analysis, a good attempt would be around 28-30 questions and a favorable score could be achieved with approximately 25 correct answers.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs
This year, the GK Section of the AILET 2024 exam was easy. There were 30 questions in GK. There were 5 passages, and each passage had 6 questions except one which had 4 questions. The topics of the passages were a fair mix of historical context & Current Affairs of the last six months, with questions coming from diverse areas such as polity, economy, technology, and some even from unusual topics like international organization's summit.

As per our AILET Analysis, a good attempt would be around 22-25 questions and a favorable score could be achieved with approximately 24 correct answers.

Logical Reasoning
This section had 70 questions which included 7 passages with six questions each. The level of questions in this section was difficult and slightly tough. This section contained questions primarily based on Critical Reasoning and contextual understanding of the passage. This, again, was a reading-based section with passages from diverse areas such as case study related to worker's productivity, the importance of words in a language, pressure faced by the students at coaching institutes leading to dire consequences, impact of AI and Legal principles may be used in the logical reasoning questions to test logical aptitude.
Most of the questions were based on the application and understanding the passage & its context. The questions were based on conventional critical reasoning, such as supporting the conclusion or likely or unlikely to agree with the claim made by the author. The primary skills required were again a good reading speed and knowledge of critical legal reasoning fundamentals.
As per our AILET Analysis, a good attempt would be around 35-50 questions and a favorable score could be achieved with approximately 45 correct answers.
