AILET 2019 Analysis

This year All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2019 was conducted on May 5, Sunday.  This year also the pattern was almost the same as it was in the last year. The paper was moderate to tough and lengthy as well. The paper had a total of 150 questions (one mark per question & 0.25 negative for a wrong answer) to be attempted in 90 minutes.

English section was moderate and lengthy.  So it was essential to manage time and accuracy as far as this part of the paper was concerned.

Sentence Correction
The section was dominated by sentence correction, reading comprehension and vocabulary based questions.  Vocabulary based questions, including Cloze test, were easy and should have been done in less time. The questions based on Figures of speech were a little tricky and included questions on Oxymoron, Pun, and Metaphor etc. The sentence correction based questions were based on the basics of grammar and hence were easy to deal with. The reading comprehensions were a little tricky but questions based on then were direct and easy to solve.
The attempt of 26-28 questions would have been considered good.
Section II: - General Knowledge
This section was dominated by the questions (28+) based on current affairs, and this section was manageable for those who were in touch with any good newspaper. The questions were based on Awards & Sports, science & social science, Business and Economy. Overall the section was manageable, and the attempt of 22+ would be considered reasonable.
Section III: - Legal Aptitude
The legal aptitude section was lengthy and complicated.  There were 11-13 questions based on Facts- Principle. There were just one or two questions on Reason-Assertion and 18- 20 questions of legal knowledge. These questions were based on acts and bills, recent judgments, amendments etc. An attempt of 19-22 would be considered good seeing the level of difficulty of this section.
Section IV: - Logical Reasoning

This year also the section had questions based on all common areas such as arrangements, coding, directions etc. However, this time, there were only a few questions based on puzzles. The section also included questions based on verbal reasoning such as Courses of Action, Syllogisms, Cause and Effect, Inferences etc. and a few questions on critical reasoning. An attempt of 20+ questions would be considered useful in this section.

Section V: - Mathematics
This section was a mixed bag and included the questions based on areas such as Averages, Profit and Loss and Pipers and Cisterns. Time Speed and Distance and Mensuration could have easily attempted 6-8 questions.
